Government Procurements Made Available on WasteBid Internet Site

WasteBid.com Press Release
October 23, 2000

(Fairfax, Va.-October 23, 2000) - The days of the required use of the Commerce Business Daily, better known as the CBD, and/or the Classified Ad section of the local newspaper may be short-lived for solid waste hauling firms looking for details on federal and local solid waste-related government procurements. WasteBid.com, Inc. (WasteBid) an Internet firm founded, in part, by senior partners from a Fairfax based solid waste management consulting firm, used the opening of the SWANA Wastecon conference to announce the successful implementation of the portion of their WasteBid.com website feature that includes the posting of federal and local governments RFB's and RFP's for waste and recycling - related contract offerings.

Mr. Robert H. Brickner, Chief Marketing Officer for WasteBid stated "The spirit and open competition of the typical federal and municipal procurement process is ripe for the posting of official bidding notices and eventual downloading of the detailed solicitation documents via the Internet. The WasteBid website now features a specific section hosting these active solid waste-related federal and local governments procurements".

The WasteBid plan for accessibility and implementation is based on keywords. As a service to our website users and community members, Mr. Brickner indicated that "the official federal and municipal notices will be available to the local and national waste and recycling haulers registered as WasteBid Service Providers. Mr. Brickner also stated that "You must be registered with the WasteBid community, or be an approved Service Provider with stipulated business credentials, to ultimately get complete access rights to all portions of the website and business opportunities."

This new WasteBid government procurement service is highlighting the CBD announcements that focus on trash services and recyclables collection. At least weekly, one of WasteBid's Project Management staff review Internet-based CBD announcements and publish the shortlist of waste-related business opportunities on WasteBid's website. Mr. Brickner indicated "this is a very value-added service performed specifically for our Service Providers, and hopefully this will provide just one more reason for the local solid waste hauling and recycling firms to select WasteBid.com as their site of choice for conducting solid waste e-commerce".

Mr. George Hudnet, Vice President of Marketing for WasteBid, and a former executive with two of the largest solid waste management firms in the country, was very pleased to see this unique service offered to the WasteBid community. Mr. Hudnet stated, "I was part of the national hauling community and my staff were always looking in the local newspaper and national publications for opportunities to bid on new service contracts. Sometimes we found these types of notices, oftentimes we did not. With WasteBid helping to do some of the pre-screening as one of the benefits for Service Providers, it will definitely help leverage internal hauler staff and more quickly identify opportunities for the waste and recycling company's belonging to the WasteBid community".

WasteBid.com, Inc. is an Internet company based in Fairfax, Virginia and Baltimore, Maryland and exclusively serving the national solid waste management field.
