(Fairfax, VA - October 12, 2001) - The Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio (SWACO) has approved a new one-year agreement to continue the use of WasteBid's patent-pending SmartEngine Online Waste Audit and Business Recycling Promotions technology to advance commercial recycling in the greater Columbus area.

Mr. Bob Brickner, Chief Operating Officer of WasteBid.com, Inc. (WasteBid), announced today that negotiations with SWACO staff have been completed that will allow WasteBid's Internet-based SmartEngine to be utilized by any commercial interest in SWACO's service area under a 12-month subscription.

WasteBid, working as a subcontractor to Gershman, Brickner & Bratton, Inc., has integrated the Web-based SmartEngine with the "look and feel" of the SWACO Web site. The SmartEngine allows businesses to complete their current waste management services profile online and receive a customized "SmartEngine" evaluation report with facility-specific recycling recommendations, cost-of-service estimates, and service provider profiles. The SmartEngine uses local waste collection services/cost data and local recycling service providers to evaluate recycling options for participating businesses, with specific 7-10 page Recycling Recommendations Reports.

Mr. Brickner indicated that the "add-on contract from SWACO for another year of the WasteBid Web-based services provides a great endorsement of the progress made in developing the technology and governmental appreciation for the cost effectiveness of the patent-pending SmartEngine."
